My grandma has been living in Beijing since my grandpa died 19 years ago. She lives close to the olympic village and we were able to see the stadium in the shape of a bird's nest from her window (see pictures!) . Judith and I went to see her together. My grandma now lives in a 3-bedroom home with her sister in law, and the sister-in-law's daughter was there too to meet us. We all went out to a very nice restaurant for lunch, and we had fresh fish for lunch!
My grandma's cognitive function is not as good as it used to be. She doesn't get lost and has a pretty good memory, but has lots of fabricated stories and some paranoia about people posioning her water, stealing from her, etc. Amongst other things, she strongly belives in Chinese medicine and when I coughed one single time, she insisted that I drink this super bitter medicine, which was disgusting.
